Santa Monica is a great place to stay if you want to be surrounded by organic places to shop and eat. The Interim Café at 530 Wilshire Boulevard is an organic foodie’s heaven offering organic soups and sandwiches, quasedillas, vegie burgers and loads more including plenty of vegan options and baked goodies (including some gluten-free variations.) With a full range of organic teas and coffees and great service, sit inside or enjoy the outdoor terrace. A second café option is the very popular Urth Caffé at 2327 Main Street – a company that prides itself on top quality organic coffees and teas and has a huge delicious menu and great friendly service. The Urth Salad and the baked goods are particular favourites. We tried a slice of quiche which was a taste sensation. If you are after organic groceries, then you will find a Whole Foods Market at 500 Wiltshire Boulevard (corner of 5th Avenue) – complete with underground parking. If you are looking for an organic farmer’s market then head down to the Santa Monica Farmers’ Market at Arizona Avenue and 2nd Street on a Wednesday – a favourite with local chefs and serious foodies – you will find an impressive array of local, seasonal fresh produce – much of which is organic.
